Jewellery Marketing Campaigns: 18 Ideas for Indian Jewellers

Jewellery marketing campaigns for Indian jewellers: a 12-month festive and wedding calendar, 18 campaign ideas, HUID trust messaging and a free campaign brief.

Published 5 June 2026 by Web Hippo in Industry Insights

Jewellery is bought on a calendar. A family in Hyderabad buys gold for Akshaya Tritiya, for Dhanteras and for a daughter's wedding, and it compares three or four jewellers before it spends. Good <strong>jewellery marketing campaigns</strong> are built around those moments and around the question every buyer has in the back of their mind: "Can I trust this shop with my money?"

This guide is for local family jewellers, regional chains and online silver or fashion jewellery brands. You'll get a 12-month campaign calendar for a fictional Hyderabad jeweller, 18 campaign ideas you can run with a small team, the compliance points that should shape your messaging, and a one-page campaign brief template.

What Makes Jewellery Marketing Campaigns Different

Three things set jewellery apart from most retail. First, the ticket size is high and the gold rate changes daily, so buyers plan ahead and shop around. Second, purchases cluster around auspicious dates and weddings, which means a jeweller's year has four or five peaks and long quiet stretches. Third, trust carries more weight than design. A buyer who worries about purity or hidden charges will not buy, however good the necklace looks on Instagram.

So a jewellery campaign has two jobs at once: get in front of the family before the occasion, and remove the doubts that stop them walking in. Most campaigns we review do the first and skip the second.

Your Jewellery Campaign Calendar

Plan backwards from the big buying days. Families start comparing prices and designs two to four weeks before Akshaya Tritiya or Dhanteras, and months before a wedding. Our Indian festive marketing calendar lists the dates; here is how they map to a jeweller's year.

  • <strong>Akshaya Tritiya (April or May):</strong> the biggest single day for gold coins and small pieces. Many buyers see it as the day to buy at least a little gold.
  • <strong>Dhanteras and Diwali (October or November):</strong> the peak of the year for most jewellers, across gold, silver and diamonds.
  • <strong>Wedding seasons:</strong> the dates depend on the region and the family's calendar. In Telugu families, for example, many avoid weddings in Ashadam and buy heavily in the months either side.
  • <strong>Regional festivals:</strong> Sankranti, Ugadi, Varalakshmi Vratham, Bonalu, Bathukamma and Dasara in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh; Onam in Kerala; Durga Puja in Bengal; Gudi Padwa in Maharashtra. Eid matters for Muslim families in cities like Hyderabad.

Example: a 12-month plan for a Hyderabad jeweller

Here is how we'd lay out the year for a fictional family jeweller in Dilsukhnagar with one store, a WhatsApp Business number and a modest Meta budget. Festival months shift with the lunar calendar, so check each year's dates before you lock the plan.

Two notes on this plan. The quiet months (June and July here) are when you build the assets the peaks need: photos, videos, reviews, WhatsApp opt-ins and retargeting audiences. And ad costs rise in the weeks before Diwali, when every jeweller and e-commerce brand bids for the same audiences, so launch in September rather than the week of Dhanteras.

18 Jewellery Marketing Ideas That Work in India

These jewellery marketing ideas are grouped by what they do. Pick three or four for each peak rather than trying all of them at once.

Campaigns that build trust

  • <strong>1. "Check your HUID" content.</strong> Show customers how to read the BIS mark, purity grade and six-digit HUID on a piece, and how to verify it in the BIS CARE app. It is useful, it is short, and it quietly positions you as the honest shop.
  • <strong>2. Making-charge transparency.</strong> Publish how you calculate the price: gold rate × weight, plus making charges (per gram or percentage), plus stone value, plus GST. A printed or WhatsApp-shareable price breakup on every bill answers the biggest objection before it is raised.
  • <strong>3. Daily gold rate updates.</strong> A morning WhatsApp Channel or broadcast post with the day's 22K and 24K rate gives customers a reason to follow you all year, not just in November.
  • <strong>4. Buyback and exchange policy in writing.</strong> State your exchange and buyback terms clearly on your website, Google profile and bills. Vague "best exchange value" claims invite suspicion.
  • <strong>5. Behind-the-counter videos.</strong> Short videos of a karigar at work, a piece being tested on an XRF machine, or how your store handles repairs. Real process beats polished product shots for trust.

Campaigns that bring buyers in for occasions

  • <strong>6. Bridal consultation weekends.</strong> Offer booked one-hour slots with a senior staff member, tea for the family and a shortlist sent on WhatsApp afterwards. Promote the appointment, not a discount.
  • <strong>7. Akshaya Tritiya and Dhanteras pre-booking.</strong> Let customers book coins or small pieces in advance and collect on the day. It spreads the rush and gives you names and numbers.
  • <strong>8. Old gold exchange drive.</strong> Run it in a quiet month with a free purity check. Many families have unused pieces, and exchange buyers usually add to the new purchase.
  • <strong>9. Gold savings scheme enrolment.</strong> A monthly instalment plan is the classic way to lock in a customer for the next wedding or festival. Read the compliance note below before you promote one.
  • <strong>10. Regional festival collections.</strong> Temple jewellery for Varalakshmi Vratham, silver items for Sankranti, lightweight gold for Bathukamma. A Hyderabad store that talks about Bonalu reads as local; one that only talks about Diwali reads as generic.

Campaigns that use digital channels well

  • <strong>11. Live video shopping.</strong> Go live on Instagram or run one-to-one WhatsApp video calls where a staff member shows pieces up close, weighs them on camera and answers questions. It works especially well for NRI families buying for weddings back home.
  • <strong>12. Click-to-WhatsApp ads.</strong> For high-ticket pieces, a WhatsApp conversation converts better than a website form in most jewellery accounts we see. Our guide to Click-to-WhatsApp ads covers the setup.
  • <strong>13. Catalogue ads on Meta.</strong> Upload your products to a catalogue and let Meta show relevant pieces to people who viewed them on your site, or to new audiences who are likely to be interested.
  • <strong>14. Google Business Profile posts and photos.</strong> Post each campaign as an offer or event on your profile, add fresh photos weekly and answer every review. Most "jeweller near me" searches end on Maps.
  • <strong>15. Local creator collaborations.</strong> A Hyderabad bridal makeup artist or saree stylist with 20,000 engaged followers often sells more than a celebrity post. Pay for content you can reuse in ads.

Campaigns that suit online and fashion jewellery brands

  • <strong>16. Try-at-home.</strong> Book a visit where a staff member brings a shortlisted set to the customer's home, with insurance and an appointment window. For fashion and silver brands, a free-return trial does the same job.
  • <strong>17. Styling Reels by occasion.</strong> "Three ways to wear one silver choker", "office to sangeet in one set". Useful content that shows the product in use sells silver and fashion jewellery better than white-background photos.
  • <strong>18. Gifting guides with price bands.</strong> Under ₹5,000, under ₹15,000, under ₹50,000. Raksha Bandhan, Valentine's Day and anniversaries are good hooks for lighter pieces.

Trust and Compliance: What Your Campaigns Must Get Right

Jewellery promotion touches consumer protection rules, so a few points should shape every campaign. This is general information for marketers, not legal advice; check specifics with your CA or lawyer.

BIS hallmarking and HUID

Hallmarking of gold jewellery is mandatory in notified districts. According to the Government of India's March 2026 release, the sixth phase took effect on 2 March 2026 and brought coverage to 380 districts. It covers six gold grades: 14K, 18K, 20K, 22K, 23K and 24K, with 9K available as a voluntary grade.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) says hallmarking is mandatory at the first point of sale and that each hallmark carries a six-digit HUID (Hallmark Unique Identification) number, which anyone can check in the BIS CARE app. BIS also lists exemptions, such as articles under 2 grams and jewellers with annual turnover up to ₹40 lakh, and notes that older hallmarked stock without HUID must be re-hallmarked before sale. For marketers, the takeaway is simple: never imply a purity or hallmark the piece doesn't carry, and treat HUID as a selling point.

Selling silver? The mandatory hallmarking rules above apply to gold jewellery and artefacts. If you plan to advertise hallmarked silver, check the current BIS position for silver on bis.gov.in first and describe your pieces accurately.

Gold savings schemes

Monthly gold schemes are popular, but they are also regulated money collection. As this LiveLaw analysis explains, a company's advances for the supply of goods within 365 days are generally not treated as deposits under the Companies (Acceptance of Deposits) Rules, 2014, which is why most schemes run for 11 months or less. Schemes that stretch beyond that, or that promise investment-style returns, risk falling under deposit rules or the Banning of Unregulated Deposit Schemes Act, 2019.

In your ads, describe the scheme as a way to buy jewellery in instalments, state the tenure and the benefit (for example, one instalment's value or a making-charge discount) plainly, and avoid words like "interest", "returns" or "investment". Get the scheme terms reviewed by a professional before you promote them. Partnership firms and proprietorships have different rules from companies.

Pricing and offers

"Zero making charges" and "flat 50% off" offers attract footfall and complaints in equal measure if the fine print loads the cost elsewhere. We'd rather see a clear "making charges from X% on 22K plain gold" message backed by a printed price breakup. It survives comparison shopping, and it doesn't come back as a one-star review.

Digital Marketing for a Jewellery Business: The Core Setup

Before you spend on campaigns, get four things in place. Without them, festive ad spend leaks.

  • <strong>Google Business Profile.</strong> Correct hours (including festival late nights), category, photos of the store and counters, and a steady flow of reviews. Google's review guidelines let you ask customers for reviews with a link or QR code, but offering discounts or gifts in exchange for reviews is prohibited. Put the QR code at the billing counter and ask at the moment of delivery. Our guide to ranking on Google Maps in Hyderabad covers the rest.
  • <strong>A product catalogue.</strong> Even a store that sells mostly in person needs a catalogue with weight, purity, making-charge basis and an "ask price" or indicative price. Meta's Advantage+ catalogue ads use it to show relevant pieces to people who viewed them, and to new audiences, without building each ad by hand.
  • <strong>WhatsApp Business.</strong> A catalogue, quick replies for "today's rate" and "store timings", and labels for bridal, scheme and exchange enquiries.
  • <strong>A way to capture opt-ins.</strong> Every walk-in, scheme member and exchange customer should be asked if they'd like festival updates on WhatsApp. That list is worth more than your follower count.

Measuring Store Footfall From Digital Campaigns

Most jewellery sales still close in the store, which is why owners often say "Instagram doesn't work" when it simply isn't being measured. You don't need expensive tools to connect the two. Use a mix of these:

  • <strong>Campaign codes.</strong> Each campaign gets its own code or pre-filled WhatsApp message ("Hi, I saw the Akshaya Tritiya coin offer"). Staff note it at billing.
  • <strong>Appointment bookings.</strong> For bridal campaigns, count booked consultations, show-ups and sales separately. Each stage tells you something different.
  • <strong>Google Business Profile performance.</strong> Watch calls, direction requests and website clicks week on week during a campaign.
  • <strong>A simple billing question.</strong> "How did you hear about this offer?" with four fixed options in your billing software, recorded for every invoice.
  • <strong>Baseline comparison.</strong> Compare walk-ins and bills in campaign weeks against the same weeks last year, not just against the previous week.

Judge each campaign on cost per store visit and cost per sale, not reach or likes. A Reel with 2 lakh views that brings in six families is worse than a WhatsApp broadcast to 800 past customers that brings in forty.

Jewellery Campaign Brief Template

Fill this in before every campaign, whether you run it yourself or hand it to an agency. It forces the decisions that most jewellery campaigns skip. The example column is for the fictional Dilsukhnagar jeweller's Akshaya Tritiya campaign.

Common Mistakes in Jewellery Business Promotion

  • <strong>Starting the festive push too late.</strong> Launching Dhanteras ads the week before means paying peak prices with no retargeting audience built.
  • <strong>Posting only product photos.</strong> Without price guidance, weights or trust content, followers admire and move on.
  • <strong>Chasing discounts instead of appointments.</strong> For bridal buyers, a booked consultation is worth more than a coupon.
  • <strong>Ignoring reviews.</strong> An unanswered complaint about exchange value costs more sales than any ad can win back.
  • <strong>Not measuring store visits.</strong> If you can't link a sale to a campaign, you'll cut the channels that are working.
