Digital Marketing Cost in India 2026: What You Should Actually Pay
Real pricing for SEO, ads, social, content and web work in India — plus how to tell a fair quote from one that will waste six months of your budget.
Published by Web Hippo in Strategy
Ask five Hyderabad agencies what digital marketing costs and you will get five wildly different numbers — ₹12,000 a month from one, ₹2.8 lakh from another, for what sounds on the call like the same scope. Neither of them is necessarily lying. They are selling different things and hoping you do not ask which. Here is what each piece of the work genuinely costs in India in 2026, what moves the number up or down, and the questions that expose a bad quote before you sign.
The Four Pricing Models You Will Run Into
Before comparing rupee figures, understand what you are being charged for. Two quotes at ₹60,000 can mean completely different amounts of human effort.
- Monthly retainer. A fixed fee for an agreed scope. This is the default in India and usually lands between ₹25,000 and ₹3,00,000 depending on how many channels you are running and how senior the people touching your account are.
- Project fee. One-time payment for a finite deliverable — a website, a technical SEO audit, a campaign launch. Sensible for work that ends. A poor fit for anything that compounds month over month.
- Percentage of ad spend. The agency takes 10–20% of what you spend on Google or Meta. This works fine above ₹2 lakh monthly spend. Below ₹1 lakh it quietly breaks, because 15% of ₹80,000 does not pay for a competent person to log in more than twice a week.
- Pay per lead. Attractive on paper. In practice, arguments about what counts as a "qualified" lead are the single most common reason these arrangements fall apart around month four.
What Each Service Costs in 2026
Search Engine Optimisation
SEO pricing tracks the competitiveness of your keywords far more than the size of your business. Ranking a Kondapur dental clinic is not the same job as ranking a national fintech.
- Local SEO, single location: ₹15,000–₹35,000/month. Google Business Profile work, citations, review generation, a handful of location pages.
- Competitive local or multi-location: ₹35,000–₹80,000/month. Add technical fixes, content production and real link building.
- National or e-commerce SEO: ₹80,000–₹2,50,000/month. Large site architecture, hundreds of pages, ongoing digital PR.
- One-off technical audit: ₹25,000–₹1,00,000 depending on site size.
Our SEO services page breaks down what sits inside each of those tiers. If you are specifically chasing Hyderabad map-pack visibility, the local SEO playbook covers the tactical side.
Google and Meta Ads Management
- Management fee: ₹20,000–₹75,000/month for one platform, or 12–18% of spend once you cross ₹3 lakh monthly.
- Minimum viable ad spend: ₹40,000/month for Meta, ₹60,000/month for Google Search in most competitive Indian categories. Below that you are buying data, not results. Google's own guidance on ad budgets is worth reading before you set a daily cap.
- Creative production: ₹10,000–₹40,000/month if you need fresh static and video assets, which you do.

Social Media Management
- Basic, 12–15 posts/month: ₹18,000–₹35,000. Design and scheduling, minimal video.
- Growth, includes 6–8 Reels: ₹40,000–₹90,000. Shooting, editing, community management.
- Full production with on-ground shoots: ₹1,00,000+.
Content, Email, WhatsApp and Reputation
- Long-form articles: ₹4,000–₹15,000 per piece for genuinely researched work. Anything at ₹800 a piece is spun or generated and will not rank. See content marketing.
- Email marketing: ₹15,000–₹45,000/month for strategy, design and automation flows. Details on our email services page.
- WhatsApp campaigns: ₹12,000–₹40,000/month plus per-conversation charges from Meta. The WhatsApp playbook explains the pricing model.
- Online reputation management: ₹20,000–₹75,000/month. More if you are actively suppressing negative coverage. See ORM services.
Website Development
Brochure sites start around ₹60,000 and a serious custom build runs ₹3–15 lakh. We have covered this in depth in our website cost breakdown, so we will not repeat it here.
Three Budgets That Actually Work
- ₹40,000–₹60,000/month — the focused start. Pick one acquisition channel. Usually local SEO plus Google Business Profile for service businesses, or Meta Ads plus WhatsApp follow-up for product businesses. Do not split this budget three ways.
- ₹1,00,000–₹1,75,000/month — the two-engine setup. Paid ads for immediate leads, SEO and content building underneath so your cost per lead falls over 9–12 months.
- ₹2,50,000+/month — the compounding system. Multi-channel, dedicated creative, proper analytics, and enough spend for the data to be statistically meaningful within a fortnight rather than a quarter.
Where the Money Actually Goes
- Strategy and account management — typically 25–30% of a retainer
- Execution: writing, design, editing, technical work — 40–50%
- Tools: rank trackers, CRM, automation, heatmaps — ₹8,000–₹40,000/month absorbed by the agency
- Reporting and analysis — 10–15%, and the part clients undervalue most
Four Questions That Expose a Weak Quote
- "How many hours a month does this scope represent, and who does the work?" A vague answer means junior staff and templates.
- "What happens in month one versus month four?" Real plans have different shapes at different stages.
- "Which specific metric are we moving, and what is the baseline today?" If nobody measured your baseline, nobody can prove improvement.
- "Do I own the ad accounts, analytics and website?" You should. Always. Agencies that resist this are building a hostage.
One more thing worth saying plainly: cost and price are different problems. A ₹30,000 retainer that produces nothing is more expensive than a ₹90,000 one that returns ₹4 lakh in pipeline. Judge quotes on what they are engineered to produce, not on the number at the bottom.
